Picking Up Your Car in Jersey City: What to Expect

If this is your first time booking with me directly instead of through an app, here’s exactly how pickup works, so there are no surprises.

Where we meet

Most pickups happen around Exchange Place or Newport, right on the Jersey City waterfront. It’s a two-minute walk from the Hoboken–Jersey City Light Rail and just as easy to reach by PATH train if you’re coming from Manhattan. I’ll confirm the exact spot by text once your booking is set — it’s usually wherever gets you to your destination fastest.

What to bring

You’ll need your driver’s license and the card you booked with. That’s really it. If you’re under 25 or driving out of state, let me know ahead of time so there are no surprises on pickup day — insurance requirements can vary slightly.

The handoff

I walk every renter around the car before handing over the keys: a quick look at existing wear so nothing gets miscounted later, a rundown of anything quirky about that particular car (some of the older Elantras have a slightly different infotainment setup than the 2024s), and a reminder of where the E-ZPass transponder lives if you’re taking the Turnpike or the tunnel.

Returning the car

Same spot, same easy handoff. Bring it back with roughly the same fuel level it had at pickup, and text me when you’re five minutes out so I’m not waiting around — or so I can tell you if I’m running a few minutes behind.

Why book direct

Booking straight through me instead of a marketplace app means the price you see is the price you pay — no service fee tacked on at checkout. It also means if something comes up, you’re texting an actual person who has the context on your reservation, not sitting in a support queue.

Questions before your trip? Just reach out — I answer same-day, most of the time within the hour.
