These Terms of Service apply when you use the Jersey City Car Rentals online booking service or make a reservation with us.
Jersey City Car Rentals is operated by Tiff Roze NJ LLC d/b/a Jersey City Car Rentals (“Jersey City Car Rentals,” “we,” “us,” or “Company”).
By making a reservation, submitting payment, or selecting the checkbox indicating that you agree to these Terms, you agree to these Terms of Service.
1. Rental Agreement
Every vehicle rental is governed by the Jersey City Car Rentals Vehicle Rental Agreement, your Rental Record, and any applicable schedules, disclosures, insurance documents, or optional protection-product documents provided for your rental.
You will be required to review and accept the Rental Agreement before the vehicle is released to you. If these Terms of Service conflict with the Rental Agreement or Rental Record regarding a specific rental, the Rental Agreement and Rental Record control.
2. Who Can Rent
Renters and all additional drivers must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a valid, unexpired driver’s license recognized in New Jersey
- Complete required identity and driver’s-license verification
- Provide accurate contact, payment, driver’s-license and insurance information
- Meet applicable payment, insurance and eligibility requirements
- Be approved as a driver before operating the vehicle
A reservation does not authorize an unapproved person to drive the vehicle.
3. Reservations and Vehicle Availability
Your reservation details, including the vehicle, rental dates and times, rates, mileage allowance, security deposit, authorized drivers and any optional products, will be shown in your Rental Record.
We may substitute a reasonably comparable vehicle if your reserved vehicle becomes unavailable. If we cannot provide a reasonably comparable substitute that you accept, applicable prepaid rental charges will be refunded.
4. Payment and Security Deposit
You authorize Jersey City Car Rentals and its payment processor to process the charges and authorization holds associated with your reservation.
The standard security deposit is $500, unless a different amount is disclosed in your Rental Record before booking.
The deposit is security for amounts properly due under the Rental Agreement. It is not automatically forfeited if there is a problem with the rental.
We will request release of the unused and undisputed portion of the security deposit or authorization hold within seven business days after the vehicle is properly returned. Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to remove the hold.
5. Rates, Mileage and Additional Charges
Your rental rate and estimated charges will be displayed during booking and in your Rental Record.
Unless your Rental Record states otherwise:
- Your rental includes 200 miles per rental day
- Additional mileage is $0.45 per mile
- Applicable taxes and governmental fees apply
- Tolls, citations, fuel shortages, excessive cleaning, smoking remediation, late returns, lost access devices, damage and other charges may apply as described in the Rental Agreement and Rental Record
All additional charges are subject to the terms, documentation requirements and dispute procedures contained in the Rental Agreement.
6. Cancellation and No-Shows
Unless a different cancellation policy is disclosed and accepted before booking:
- Cancel more than 24 hours before pickup: prepaid rental charges are refunded
- Cancel 24 hours or less before pickup: the base rental charge for the first rental day may be retained
- No-show: the base rental charge for the first rental day may be charged
If you have not picked up or accessed the vehicle within two hours after your scheduled start time, have not contacted us, and have not received approval for a later pickup, we may treat the reservation as a no-show.
Returning a vehicle early does not automatically entitle you to a refund or reduction in rental charges.
7. Self-Service Pickup and Return
Jersey City Car Rentals operates a self-service rental model.
Pickup and return take place at our location in downtown Jersey City, New Jersey. The exact location is provided in your Rental Record.
Vehicle access instructions are provided after the required verification, payment and deposit authorization, coverage verification and rental documents have been completed.
We do not provide airport, hotel, curbside or meet-and-greet vehicle delivery.
8. Vehicle Use
Vehicles may be used for ordinary personal transportation and ordinary business travel.
Vehicles may not be used for prohibited activities described in the Rental Agreement, including:
- Racing, drifting, track use or reckless driving
- Towing or pushing another vehicle, trailer or object
- Off-road or beach driving
- Delivery, courier, taxi, moving or commercial hauling without prior approval
- Unlawful or fraudulent activity
- Transporting passengers for hire
- Travel outside the United States without prior approval
- Allowing an unauthorized driver to operate the vehicle
- Tampering with GPS, telematics, safety or vehicle equipment
Only approved drivers may operate the vehicle.
9. Smoking and Cleaning
Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside all Jersey City Car Rentals vehicles.
A $150 smoking remediation fee applies when smoking or vaping in the vehicle is documented. Additional documented costs may apply if smoking causes physical damage or requires specialized remediation.
Vehicles must be returned reasonably clean. Charges may apply for excessive cleaning as described in the Rental Agreement.
10. Tolls, Tickets and Parking Violations
You are responsible for tolls, tickets, parking charges and other violations incurred during your rental.
Applicable administrative fees are disclosed in the Rental Agreement and Rental Record.
11. Insurance and Optional Protection
Rental eligibility may require verification of applicable automobile liability insurance.
Optional physical-damage protection may be offered for certain rentals. Any optional protection product is governed by its own terms, exclusions, limits and provider documents.
Selecting an optional physical-damage product does not replace liability insurance unless the applicable provider documents expressly state otherwise.
12. GPS and Vehicle Technology
Our vehicles may contain GPS, telematics, connected services, diagnostic systems and remote security or access technology.
These systems may collect information such as vehicle location, mileage, speed, operating events, fuel or charge level, diagnostic information, security events and crash-related information.
Vehicle data may be used for legitimate rental purposes including administering the rental, calculating charges, maintaining and securing the vehicle, investigating accidents or claims, locating or recovering a vehicle, responding to emergencies and complying with law.
Additional disclosures are provided in the Rental Agreement.
13. Electronic Communications
By renting with us, you agree to receive rental-related electronic communications, including confirmations, agreements, pickup and return instructions, extension information, safety notices, invoices, toll or citation notices, damage or claims communications and other information relating to your rental.
Electronic acceptance, including a checked box or other affirmative electronic action, may be used to document your agreement to applicable terms.
14. Privacy
Information you provide through the booking process may be processed by Jersey City Car Rentals and service providers involved in administering your reservation, payment, verification, insurance or protection, and rental.
Vehicle-related information is handled as described in the Rental Agreement and applicable privacy disclosures.
15. Third-Party Booking and Payment Services
Our online booking and payment services may be provided through third-party platforms and service providers. Your use of those services may also be subject to the applicable provider’s terms and privacy policies.
16. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. The Terms presented to you when you complete your booking will apply to that booking.
17. Governing Rental Documents
These Terms provide general terms for booking with Jersey City Car Rentals. They do not replace the Vehicle Rental Agreement.
Your individual rental is governed by the Vehicle Rental Agreement, Rental Record and applicable schedules, disclosures and provider documents that you receive and accept as part of the rental process.
If there is a conflict concerning your individual rental, those rental-specific documents control.
